A tractor-trailer hit an overpass bridge on the Maine Turnpike in Scarborough early Friday morning.

The tractor-trailer’s driver was heading south on the turnpike, near mile marker 44, about 12:47 a.m. they may have suffered a medical event and hit the center median wall before crashing into the Gorham Road overpass bridge abutment, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

The driver was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
