A 63-year-old man who was sentenced to six years in prison died after recently being released to supervised community confinement from the Mountain View Correctional Facility.

Eugene Caston’s death at around 8:20 a.m. was attended by medical personnel, according to the Maine Department of Corrections. The state attorney general and medical examiner’s office have been notified of his death.

Caston started serving his sentence in 2024 for aggravated trafficking and illegal firearm possession charges.

He was originally from Holden.
