Brewer firefighters put out a small fire in an apartment on North Main Street Saturday night after responding to an automatic fire alarm.
Crews were dispatched at 9:49 p.m. and arrived to find smoke inside the apartment, according to the Brewer Fire Department.
Firefighters found a small pile of burning clothing and quickly extinguished it, preventing the fire from spreading.
The department said the incident, which began as a routine alarm, escalated quickly and underscored the importance of functioning alarm systems and rapid response.
