One person is missing after a Monday night house fire in Palermo.
The fire broke out about 11:25 p.m. at the Leeman Arm Road home, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
When firefighters arrived, they found the home engulfed in flames and a severely burned man in the road near the home, Moss said Tuesday morning.
He told firefighters that another person was still inside the home. The man was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta before being flown to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he remains in critical condition, according to Moss.
The search is ongoing for the second victim.
The fire remains under investigation.
