BELFAST — Sorcha Cribben-Merrill, the Maine-based songwriter, will bring her trio to The Underground Lounge at 17 Court St. in Belfast on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 7 p.m.
Raised on the ocean in rural Maine, Cribben-Merrill writes stirring indie-folk songs featuring powerful jazz vocals. She has built a career performing original music and covers in settings ranging from folk festivals and rock clubs to intimate listening rooms, and has opened for artists such as Grammy-nominated mandolinist Matt Flinner and folk icon Tom Rush.
Cribben-Merrill will be joined on stage by Chris Robley and Jeff Christmas. From evocative originals to re-imagined covers spanning the 1920s to the 2020s, these three celebrated Maine songwriters and multi-instrumentalists deliver rich vocal harmonies, fresh arrangements, and bluesy grooves — fueled by guitar, upright bass, percussion and a touch of vintage charm.
