Mia Mills has scored plenty of points in her high school career.
The Jonesport-Beals senior guard and captain hit the 1,000-point mark earlier this season. And her Royals team certainly leaned on that scoring ability Tuesday night as they got a first round win in the Class S girls high school basketball tournament.
Mills scored a game-high 24 points and Jonesport-Beals beat Shead of Eastport by a score of 43-28.
“I’m a senior, so this is all-in or nothing,” Mills said. “If we don’t win, I’m done.”
Mills said strong-team defense will be key if the Royals are going to make a run in the tournament. And she said that her offensive production can flow from solid effort on the other side of the floor.
“I just have to play good D, and I know my offense will come if I play good, strong defense.”
