A 23-year-old New Hampshire woman died Thursday in a snowmobile crash on ITS Trail 89 in Jackman.
Michelle Carolina Cantos lost control of the Polaris snowmobile she was operating and was pronounced dead at the scene at about 11:45 a.m., according to Maine Game Warden Lieutenant Kris Barboza.
Cantos was riding fourth in a group of five family and friends traveling north on the trail when the crash occurred.
Inexperience appears to be a factor in the crash, Barboza said.
The Maine Warden Service is investigating the incident.
