If Gov. Janet Mills’ $300 relief check only goes to those who file income tax returns, unfortunately, it will not get to those who need it most.

A single person making less than the standard deduction of $15,300 or married and making less than $30,600 does not even need to submit a tax return. And probably won’t if they don’t want to pay a tax consultant or have the means to file online.
