A Hampden woman who was serving time related to an 2018 incident in which she slit her boyfriend’s throat with a kitchen knife while he slept has died in prison.

Sonya Dupray, 46, was serving a 20-year sentence with all but 12 years suspended at Maine Correctional Center in Windham.

Her boyfriend survived the attack but was hospitalized in critical condition at the time. Dupray pleaded guilty in 2019 to elevated aggravated assault.

The Maine Department of Corrections said Dupray died at about 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The department did not disclose the cause or manner of her death but said Dupray was with medical personnel when she died.
