A man who lived at a Portland group home allegedly killed a woman who worked there.
Armando Javier Negrete, 40, has been charged with murder, according to Brad Nadeau, a spokesperson for the Portland Police Department.
Negrete allegedly stabbed 40-year-old Marlene McNeill of Gorham at Shalom House on Woodford Street about 9:58 a.m. Monday before he left the building.
McNeill was taken to Maine Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries, Nadeau said Tuesday morning.
The Maine medical examiner’s office in Augusta will determine her cause of death.
Negrete was arrested without incident a few minutes after the stabbing.
He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail.
The stabbing remains under investigation.
