A Saturday evening threat that led police to descend on the Brewer Walmart was a hoax.
There is no threat to the public, Brewer police said in a statement. The incident remains under investigation.
Witnesses reported a large police presence near the store, with multiple agencies converging on the area. Social media posts from people in and around the store after 7 p.m. described being escorted out of the building before police cleared the scene.
