PITTSFIELD –  Sebasticook Valley Federal Credit Union recently presented an $8,000 donation to Hometown Health Center in support of the organization’s Ending Hunger initiatives and expanded community wellness services in Palmyra.

Mindy Nyman, assistant vice president of member services at Sebasticook Valley FCU, presented checks totaling $8,000 to Robin Winslow, chief executive officer of Hometown Health Center, and Taylor Winslow, Wellness Center director, during a ribbon-cutting event for the organization’s new facility on May 12.

The donation included $4,000 raised through Sebasticook Valley FCU’s Ending Hunger fundraising efforts, which was matched by the credit union for a total contribution of $8,000.

Sebasticook Valley FCU partners with Hometown Health Center through the Hometown Health Board of Directors and the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger. Credit Union President Jim Lemieux also serves as president of Hometown Health Center’s board of directors.

The new Hometown Health Center facility is now open, offering medical and behavioral health services, with more to come, including a wellness center, gym, a teaching kitchen, a food pantry and a full-service daycare. The project was developed to help reduce barriers to healthcare, nutrition, wellness and childcare access for the community.

“We are proud to support Hometown Health Center and the important work they are doing for our communities,” Lemieux said. “This new facility brings together healthcare, wellness, nutrition and childcare services in one location, creating greater access and support for individuals and families throughout the region.”

Sebasticook Valley FCU regularly supports community organizations and local initiatives through donations, volunteerism and fundraising efforts, including participation in the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger.
