A barn in the town of Randolph that is home to a power line contractor was significantly damaged in a fire Wednesday night.

The fire at 9 Barber Road was reported at about 8:10 p.m., and firefighters arrived to find the building “heavily involved in fire,” the state fire marshal’s office said in a news release.

The property is home to Coutts Brothers, Inc., a high-voltage electrical contractor that that works on transmission lines.

The barn and its contents, including a variety of equipment, snowplows, power line equipment and supplies, vehicle tires, and other items were damaged, along with several items stored outside the building.

Investigators from the fire marshal’s office determined the blaze started in an open-air lean-to at one end of the building. They do not know what started it but do not believe it was set intentionally.
