A 49-year-old Portland man died of injuries after he was hit by a driver in Portland late Tuesday morning.

The crash was reported just before 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Marginal Way and Preble Street.

The victim, who police have not identified, was taken to Maine Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after he arrived at the hospital, according to Portland police.

No charges have been filed against the driver, an 82-year-old from Portland, who has not been named by police.

The area was closed to traffic for four hours after the crash, police said.
