The man who died on June 8 after he crashed into a Versant Power truck in Eddington has been identified.

Wendell Thayer, 50, of Bradford was driving a NE Kenworth company van west on Route 9, near the Eddington town office, about 1:09 p.m. when he crossed the road and crashed into a Versant Power truck legally parked in the breakdown lane, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

Thayer died at the scene.

The driver of the Versant Power truck, 48-year-old Michael Dinsmore of Milbridge, was taken to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where he was treated and later released.

The investigation is ongoing, but the sheriff’s office said Tuesday night that no charges will likely be filed.
