The man who is suspected to have stabbed someone at their Essex Street home has been arrested.
Abel Perez, 37, of Bangor, was found in New York in a reportedly stolen car, according to the Bangor Police Department.
The stabbing on Saturday happened at around 11:36 p.m. at a home on Essex Street, Bangor police spokesperson Jeremy Brock said. The person injured was taken to the hospital, and was expected to survive. Updates on their condition were not available.
When police located Perez in New York, they had determined that he had stolen the stabbing victim’s vehicle. The theft was reported by the victim’s neighbor.
On Monday, Bangor police received information on Perez’s whereabouts. He was taken into custody, and charged with Class A attempted murder, Class A elevated aggravated assault, Class C theft, and Class D domestic violence assault.
Further details on Perez’s bail amount or court date were not available Thursday afternoon.
