PORTLAND — Fenix Theatre Company invites you to experience its 18th annual summer tradition of free Shakespeare in Deering Oaks Park with a rollicking production of Shakespeare’s “Henry IV, Part One.”. In typical Fenix style, this production features live music played on multiple instruments, with hits ranging from the 1960s to 2010s.
A restless prince forges his own path between his father’s call to honor and the larger-than-life shenanigans of Shakespeare’s greatest comic creation, Sir John Falstaff. From the tavern to the battlefield, “Henry IV, Part One” blends uproarious comedy with the thrill of sword fights in a story of fathers, sons, and the making of a king.

The July 16 performance will feature live audio description for blind & visually impaired audience members. Audience members should check in with a Fenix staff member to receive a headset. There will be a designated seating area for folks utilizing this service.
