The Fairfield Police Department arrested a Waterville man Saturday after finding him with a 4-year-old who was reported missing.
Police were initially dispatched to a Fairfield house at around 2 a.m. Saturday but didn’t find the child there, according to department spokesperson Casey Dugas. Additional information led police to a home in Waterville, where the child was found with 37-year-old Brandon Phair, Dugas said.
The child was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.
Phair was charged with kidnaping and criminal restraint and brought to Somerset County Jail, with a $500,000 cash bail. More charges are expected, Dugas said.
Police said Phair is known by one of the residents of the house in Fairfield but is not related to the child.
