It’s going to be hot for the next week or so, and very hot on Thursday and Friday.

After a Tuesday and Wednesday highs of 88, Bangor is forecast for a high near 97 degrees on Thursday with little to no breeze, according to the National Weather Service. On Thursday night, the temperature will only drop to 71, before shooting up to a forecast high of 94 on Friday and an overnight low of 67.

Bangor’s top-ten all time highs have been 99 and above, but the July 2 record high of 93, set in 1941, will most likely be broken on Thursday. The city’s July 3 heat record of 97, set in 1949, will probably remain intact for another year.

Independence Day weekend highs in Bangor will gradually step down on Saturday (89 degrees) and Sunday (84 degrees) with showers likely on Saturday.
