The alleged assault happened Thursday near Number One Pond on Front Street, according to Matthew Gagne, the deputy chief of the Sanford Police Department.

The kids were riding bicycles downhill on Front Street, where they allegedly blew through a stop sign, prompting the man who was driving to brake suddenly.

During the argument, he allegedly threw one of the bicycles into Number One Pond, escalating the argument into a fight,

The man left before police arrived.

Gagne said the investigation is ongoing and that no more information is being released right now.
