A woman allegedly threw a plate of food at her boyfriend before slashing him with a kitchen knife early Tuesday morning in Rumford.
Clarixsa Velez, 28, was charged with domestic violence aggravated assault, according to Rumford Police Chief Tony Milligan.
Velez and the victim were drinking alcohol at their Virgin Street residence around 1:32 a.m. when they began arguing. That escalated when Velez allegedly threw a plate of food at her boyfriend and then got a kitchen knife and slashed his left hand as he raised his arms to defend himself, Milligan said Tuesday morning.
The victim’s injuries were treated at the scene.
Velez was denied bail and taken to the Oxford County Jail in South Paris pending her initial court appearance.
