MILLINOCKET — Penquis has received a $10,000 grant from the Daniel and Mary Teresa Ahern Fund of the Maine Community Foundation. Funding will support the purchase and installation of six solar panels at Millinocket Manor, a 37-unit affordable housing community under development in Millinocket. The project will help reduce electricity costs and support the long-term sustainability of the property for residents.

Millinocket Manor will provide affordable housing for income-eligible tenants who are age 55 and older or who are living with a disability and need supportive community-based housing. By installing solar panels, Penquis will reduce electricity expenses and operating costs, helping to keep the property affordable and financially sustainable over time.

“We are grateful to the Maine Community Foundation for supporting this investment in Millinocket Manor,” Larry Rogers, housing development director at Penquis, said. “By reducing energy expenses, this project will help strengthen the property’s long-term financial stability and support a safe, affordable place for residents to call home.”
