A 21-year-old Skowhegan man drowned Saturday morning after being thrown from a boat on the Kennebec River, according to the Maine Warden Service.
Jakub Prokop was a passenger on a 16-foot boat traveling upriver of the Hinkley Boat Launch at approximately 11:20 a.m. when he was thrown overboard. Prokop was not wearing a life jacket, officials said.
The incident remains under investigation. Skowhegan and Fairfield fire and police departments, along with Redington and Delta ambulance services, assisted at the scene.
