A tractor trailer carrying logs through Milford caught fire on Thursday afternoon.

Milford and Greenbush fire departments were dispatched to Stud Mill Road. By the time they arrived, the trailer and cargo were heavily ablaze, the Milford Fire and Rescue Department said.

A lack of water in the area required firefighters to call in a tanker task force from Bradley, Alton, Glenburn, Holden, Carmel and Hudson. They pumped 12,000 gallons of water onto the burning truck to extinguish it, according to Milford Fire and Rescue.

The department did not say what caused the fire.
