Camp DeForest, a summer-camp themed boutique hotel in Lincolnville, plans to open an annex with rock climbing, ping-pong and kids’ activities in Northport this fall.
The Camp DeForest Adventure Center, located in a converted boatshop on Route 1, will also have a treadmill-style climbing wall, a karaoke machine, a punching bag and an old-school gym climbing rope, said Ben Gustin, Camp DeForest’s general manager.
The annex is the latest addition to a hotel that has been growing since it opened last year.
“We wanted to create a place for people to come and enjoy and meet and have fun,” Gustin said.
While the center is primarily an amenity for guests staying at the hotel, the wider public will also be able to buy passes by the day or month, Gustin said.
Camp DeForest would also eventually like to add children’s programming and a day-care center at the adventure center at some point, Gustin said, adding that he and the hotel’s owners have kids and would like to see more “community-driven hangout spaces” in the area.
Camp DeForest has been steadily adding options for dining, drinks and coffee for guests and the public since it opened in 2025, Gustin said.
The hotel, located the site of the former Ducktrap Motel, offers cabins as well as rooms, all with a summer camp theme.
