EASTPORT — The Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance invites writers and anyone interested in Maine’s literary community to its next Gather on Wednesday, July 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Horn Run Brewing, 75 Water St.
.
Gather is a free, informal evening where writers at every stage — from those just beginning to published authors — can meet, exchange ideas and enjoy conversation in a relaxed setting. No registration is required.
In a rural region where writers often work in isolation, Gather offers a chance to build connections, exchange ideas, and strengthen the local literary community. Participants often describe Gather as a rare opportunity to connect with people who understand the creative life.
“It’s a way to connect with others who share a passion for the art of writing. We talk prose, marketing, craft, and enjoy each other’s company.” Others have described Gather as “one of the few places I can talk about writing with other people who do it,” and a welcoming space “to meet other writers and hear about their experiences with publishing.” For many, the evenings offer more than conversation. As one attendee reflected, “I spend most of my time taking care of others. I come here to remember who I am.”
Attendees are welcome to bring flyers, business cards, or announcements about upcoming literary events, publications, workshops or other opportunities to share with the writing community.
Whether you’re a published author, an aspiring writer, a lifelong journal keeper or simply someone who loves books, Gather offers a welcoming place to join the conversation. Readers are encouraged to attend as well — it’s a chance to meet local authors, hear about their creative journeys and spend an evening talking about books, writing and ideas with others who share those interests.
