A 27-year-old man was arrested in connection to a drug bust in Bangor on Wednesday.
John Clement was stopped in his vehicle on Hammond Street, after a months-long investigation by the Bangor Police Department and the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office raised suspicion that the man had been trafficking drugs.
Undercover officers had purchased cocaine from Clement as part of the investigation, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss.
During the traffic stop and subsequent search of the Bangor man’s car, officials found 440 grams of cocaine. That is equal to just under a pound.
Clement was taken into custody, and has been charged with three counts of aggravated trafficking of Schedule W drugs. He was on probation for a prior drug trafficking conviction.
He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail Wednesday, according to Moss. An investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be pursued.
