I become more amazed as each political day passes at what we are allowing to happen to our democracy. I am not a constitutional scholar, but I am aware of the essence of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence of our great American states.
I do know that the power of government was initially designed by the framers of the documents to provide power to the Congress and the president from the people and by the people. That seems to have reversed over time to where we as the people are beholden to our elected officials.
We currently have a president that has enjoyed a partisan Congress and during his first two years has been allowed to run roughshod over the government, with threats and unfulfilled promises.
Donald Trump has said he does not care about the midterm elections. Why? My thought is that he cannot be re-elected and that he has accomplished his ideas and accumulated great wealth already and can just ride out and disrupt as much as possible while blaming a non-partisan Congress for all future failures.
I must admit that I am a Trump voter, my reasoning was that Kamala Harris did not impress me as a viable candidate and having seen Trump’s first term, which I thought was not great but acceptable, he would be the better option. Wrong!
I don’t know how we can recover our country as our forefathers laid it out, but we are America and we are resilient.
