Around 60,000 homes are without power on Thursday after a brief but powerful storm tore through parts of the state.
More than 44,000 Central Maine Power customers and just over 15,000 Versant customers were without power as of 6 p.m. Thursday, the companies’ outage maps show.
The outages came after a brief storm ripped through Maine, knocking down trees that got tangled in power lines. The storm lasted less than 20 minutes.
In Bangor, downed trees and power lines snarled traffic throughout the city. Nearly 8,000 homes in Penobscot County were without power on Thursday afternoon, evenly split between CMP and Versant.
