BRADFORD — Every year Bradford Days highlights the town with a parade and multiple events to celebrate the community. This year the event will feature a parade which starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday followed by a number of exciting events designed for children. A full list of events is outlined in the attached image.
Committee Member Chantel Surette said, “Bradford Days is a great way to bring everyone together in the community. Ever since I was little, I have memories of coming to Bradford Days, and I want my children to have the same memories. We are so thankful for all the sponsors and all the volunteers that make this happen. We couldn’t do this without all of the support.”
A new non-profit will join the parade this year. Bickmore Farms will grow pumpkins and give the donations from the pumpkins to the town beginning in 2027. President Crystal Canney owns the land where the pumpkins will be grown and grew up in Bradford. She initiated the project last year. The non-profit is located at 39 West Road across from Hanson and Sons Earthworks where the parade will form.
“What makes this really cool is it honors the past will supporting the future. Every year my grandparents would scratch our names into pumpkins that would grow, and the names would get bigger, it was truly a unique experience. We will honor them by naming the project, Bickmore Farms. We will raise the pumpkins beginning in in 2027 and people will be able to donate to the 501c3 nonprofit while receiving a pumpkin at the end of the growing season. The Board of Directors will vote on where the proceeds go. I am grateful to the Board that includes multiple generations related to the Bickmore family.”
The land has been in the Bickmore-Canney family for more than 50 years. Canney said, “I would like to thank our supporters for their incredible contributions in preparing the land for next year’s planting – they include – Barry Higgins at Maple Lane Farms, Alan Linkletter of Linkletter and Sons in Athens, Erik Hanson at Hanson and Sons Earthworks and Earl Parfitt at AKE Concrete.
