Update: A woman was injured after falling from a cliff, according to the Coast Guard.
The loop road in Acadia National Park is closed near Sand Beach.
Park staff said early Friday afternoon that a medical emergency prompted the closure.
While the road is closed, there is no vehicle access to Sand Beach and Thunder Hole.
People have been asked to avoid the area until further notice.
