BANGOR — Wireless Zone®, the nation’s largest Verizon Wireless retail franchise, is hosting a Backpack Giveaway. On Sunday, July 26 from 1 to 4 p.m., the Bangor Wireless Zone location at 570 Main St. will be donating backpacks. The backpacks will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last at the designated location.
“This is the 10th year we have participated in the National Event by giving away backpacks to local kids at all six of our locations in the state,” said Becky MacManus, marketing manager, Wireless Zone of Bangor. “On average, a family spends $858 per child on back-to-school supplies. Our hope is we can take some of that burden off of the families in our community. The goal is to set these kids up for success for the upcoming school year!”
Parents and children are encouraged to visit a participating location to get a backpack. Backpacks will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis. The event starts at 1 p.m. at the Wireless Zone locations in Bangor, Newport, Skowhegan, Ellsworth, Houlton and Presque Isle.
