Home values in Maine keep climbing.
The median value of a single family home in the state reached a five-year high of nearly $421,000 last month, according to Zillow. The real estate platform uses public records, sale data and user-submitted home details to calculate the expected value of homes and what they would likely sell for.
But home values vary widely depending on where in Maine the property is located, from $174,000 in Aroostook County up to $574,000 in Cumberland County.
For a sense of what kind of home you can get for the typical value in each county, we found properties on the market in all 16 that are selling for that same amount.
Here’s what we found.
Androscoggin median home value: $338,000
This newly built manufactured home in Leeds, roughly 30 minutes west of Augusta, has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and nearly 1,500 square feet of living space.
Sitting on more than 2 acres, the home offers a generous kitchen with a large island, stainless steel appliances, a farmhouse sink and sliding glass doors that lead to the backyard.
The property hit the market in March for $338,735.
Aroostook median home value: $174,000
Built in 1960, this three-bedroom, one-bathroom ranch in Orient sits on nearly an acre with a detached garage and private pond.
Situated 30 minutes south of Houlton, the home was listed in April for $174,900 after selling last December for $100,000, according to Zillow records.
The 1,400-square-foot home’s features include an updated kitchen and bathroom, as well as large back deck and walkout basement.
Cumberland median home value: $574,000
Based in Portland’s Riverton neighborhood, this newly built three-bedroom, three-bathroom home has nearly 1,450 square feet of living space.
With both a front porch and back deck, the home’s other features include an open-concept kitchen with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and a large island with room for seating.
The property was listed in late May for $574,900.
Franklin median home value: $299,000
A roughly 30-minute drive from Sugarloaf Mountain, this log cabin in Salem Township sits on 8 acres and includes three bedrooms, one bathroom and more than 1,300 square feet of living space.
Built in 1941, the property includes a detached one-car garage and a large deck. Inside, the home has a stone gas fireplace, eat-in kitchen and a loft area for sleeping.
The property was first listed for sale in November 2025 with an asking price of $315,000, but that has been reduced to $299,000.
Hancock median home value: $434,000
Perched on the edge of Union River Bay in Surry, this three-bedroom, one-bathroom cottage built in 1990 has roughly 1,370 square feet of living space on a 1-acre lot.
It also features an oversized one-bay detached garage and a deck with water views. Inside, the ranch-style home has heat pumps, an eat-in kitchen and a large basement.
The property was listed early this month for $435,000.
Kennebec median home value: $325,000
Built in 1800, this three-bedroom, two-bathroom farmhouse in Oakland offers 1,950 square feet of living space.
Situated on more than an acre a few miles from downtown Waterville, the property includes an attached two-car garage and several historic touches, such as exposed beams on the ceiling.
The home was first listed in May for $385,000, but the asking price has been cut multiple times to $325,000, Zillow records show.
Knox median home value: $450,000
This four-bedroom, three-bathroom home in Cushing was first built in 1900, but has been extensively renovated to include new insulation, plumbing, wiring, heating system and septic system, among other upgrades.
With 1,155 square feet of living space, the home sits on a 1-acre lot less than 30 minutes southwest of Rockland. The property’s other features include a large deck and detached garage.
The property’s asking price has dropped to $450,000 after it was initially listed for $495,000 in April.
Lincoln median home value: $454,000
Built in 1850, this four-bedroom, two-bathroom home sits around the corner from downtown Wiscasset.
The 1,728-square-foot house has a fenced-in yard with raised garden beds, a gazebo and a back deck. Inside, the Cape Cod-style home is updated throughout.
The property hit the market last month with an asking price of $500,000, but that has been reduced multiple times to reach $450,000.
Oxford median home value: $328,000
This three-bedroom, two-bathroom ranch in Paris sits on nearly an acre and offers more than 1,230 square feet of living space.
Built in 2021, the home has an open floor plan with cathedral ceilings in the main living space, stainless steel appliances, radiant heat and a back deck.
The home was listed for sale in April for $334,900 after selling in late 2024, but the asking has been reduced to $329,000.
Penobscot median home value: $354,000
Set on nearly an acre in Milford, this three-bedroom, two-bathroom home built in 2003 has roughly 1,650 square feet of living space.
Aside from a covered front porch and spacious back deck, the home’s features include a pellet stove in the living room, stainless steel kitchen appliances and a large walkout basement.
The property hit the market earlier this month with an asking price of $354,000.
Piscataquis median home value: $236,000
Built in 1900, this farmhouse in Brownville offers three bedrooms, two bathrooms and more than 1,660 square feet of living space.
The property, which sits on just under an acre, includes a two-car detached garage. The home has both a front porch and back deck, as well as many charming features inside, such as built-in cabinets, wood floors and a stained glass window in the staircase.
It was initially listed last September for $225,000, but the asking price has since been bumped up to $230,000 after new electrical equipment was installed, according to the listing.
Sagadahoc median home value: $443,000
This three-bedroom, one-bathroom farmhouse in Woolwich offers 1,500 square feet of living space and views of the Kennebec River.
The roughly half-acre property is a two-minute drive from downtown Bath and includes an attached barn with ample storage or workshop space. The home, built in 1850, has received several updates, including new kitchen appliances and granite countertops.
The property sold in March for $225,000, then was listed again in June for $475,000. The asking price has since been cut to $445,000.
Somerset median home value: $239,000
With more than 2,100 square feet of living space, this four-bedroom, one-bathroom Victorian-style home in Madison is available for $239,000.
Built in 1890, the home has received several updates, including new paint, flooring and a refreshed kitchen and bathroom. But, the home still holds many charming features, including a wraparound porch, built-in cabinets and a fireplace.
The home has been on and off the market since late 2025, but was most recently listed in March for $259,000. The asking price now sits at $239,000.
Waldo median home value: $352,000
Built in 1913, this five-bedroom, two-bathroom craftsman-style home in Isleboro sits on just under a half-acre and offers more than 1,760 square feet of living space.
The property’s many features include a covered front porch, back deck, built-in bookshelves, detached barn, and french doors that lead to a sitting area.
The property has been listed for sale several times since June 2025, when it was put on the market for $625,000. Most recently, it was listed for sale earlier this month for $399,000, but the asking price has been cut to $350,000.
Washington median home value: $209,000
This two-bedroom, one-bathroom home in Perry was built in 1860 and underwent significant renovations, many of which were completed in 2005.
With nearly 1,500 square feet of living space on 21 acres, the home’s more recent updates include a new metal roof, vinyl siding and electrical system.
The home has been on and off the market since June 2025, when it had an asking price of $235,000. It was listed for $205,000 late last month.
York median home value: $537,000
This three-bedroom, one-bathroom ranch in York sits on nearly a half-acre and is roughly a five-minute drive from Long Sands Beach.
The 960-square-foot home was built in 1987 and includes both a front and back deck, vaulted ceilings in the main living space and a large kitchen with an island.
The home has been listed for $550,000 several times 2024. It has been on the market since April with an asking price of $535,000.
