A Lewiston man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly stabbed another man in the town of China.
Jacob Hebert, 36, was charged with elevated aggravated assault, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Hebert allegedly stabbed the 47-year-old Oakland man about 12:54 a.m. Tuesday and fled before police arrived.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for injuries not considered life-threatening and released.
Hebert returned to the area that afternoon, and a state trooper found him on Deer Hill Road, where Hebert was arrested without incident during a traffic stop, Moss said late Tuesday night.
The two men knew each other, according to Moss.
He was taken to the Kennebec County Jail in Augusta, where he was held without bail.
The investigation is ongoing.
China is southeast of Waterville.
