A propane explosion destroyed a Bridgton home Wednesday afternoon.

The explosion, and subsequent fire, happened about 3:30 p.m. at the Dyvonne Terrace home, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Five people were at the home. Four suffered minor burns while one was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland with serious injuries, Moss said Thursday morning.

One firefighter suffered minor burns but didn’t require hospitalization.

Investigators believe there was a propane leak, which was ignited. The home was under construction at the time and is a total loss.

The investigation is ongoing.

Bridgton is northwest of Sebago Lake in Cumberland County.
