A Dresden man allegedly assaulted another driver with a handgun and fired a shot during an act of road rage.
Jamie Kramer, 67, has been charged with aggravated assault and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, according to the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office.
Kramer was allegedly tailgating another driver on Old Stage Road in Woolwich on the morning of July 23 when Kramer then cut him off and stopped in the road.
Kramer and the victim got out of their vehicles. The victim then tried to take a picture with his phone of Kramer and his vehicle. Then Kramer allegedly pulled out a 9 mm handgun and demanded that the victim surrender the phone.
He allegedly chased down the victim and struck him on the head with the handgun before firing one shot, which didn’t hit the other driver, according to the sheriff’s office.
Kramer then fled.
Police identified Kramer as the suspect and arrested him without incident, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday.
He was taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.
The investigation is ongoing.
