A structure fire Thursday night on State Street in central Ellsworth destroyed a garage and two vehicles.

The Ellsworth Fire Department was dispatched just after 11 p.m. Thursday to a report of a single-story, detached garage and two vehicles that were fully engulfed in flames at 112 State St., according to Amy Kenney, the city’s communications director. The home sits across from Donald Little Park on State Street, a few doors up from the Hancock County Courthouse.

No injuries were reported, Kenney said.

The two scorched vehicles, a small SUV and a standard sedan, were outside of the garage at the time of the fire, according to Scott Guillerault, Ellsworth’s fire chief.

The Maine fire marshal’s office and the Ellsworth Fire Department are investigating the fire and its origin, Guillerault said.

Firefighters from Hancock, Lamoine, Trenton, Mariaville and Mount Desert also responded to the fire, which was declared under control by 11:34 p.m. All Ellsworth units had cleared the scene by 1 a.m., Kenney said.
