A small fire on Wednesday afternoon at Waterfall Arts in Belfast is believed to have originated in a glass blowing studio.
The fire was reported at about 3:15 p.m. at the former elementary school building turned arts center at 256 High St.
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire, which the state fire marshal’s office said was confined to a small metal tray under a metal work table in the glass blowing studio.
Investigators determined that the last person in the studio was a glass artist, who left the building at about 1:30 p.m., and that a piece of hot glass came into contact with a microfiber cloth in the metal tray causing the cloth to ignite or smolder.
The fire marshal’s office classified it as accidental and said no injuries were reported.
