If you are interested in applying for Canadian citizenship, you’ll need to have certified records on hand — such as your ancestors’ birth or marriage records — and you’ll need to apply for those documents.
Completing the application from the Archives of Ontario is a bit complicated, and using the wrong codes or sending incomplete requests could push you back in the queue. Each province has its own archive.

Here’s what the form asks and how to complete it to obtain what you need.
Record Type: Select “archival image”
Reference: Pick one of these: RG 80-2 Birth, RG 80-5 Marriage or RG 80-8 Death
Title: The name of the person whose record you seek
Permalink: You can post a web link to the record (optional)
Location: List all the information you have on the record you seek, including the registration number, dates, parents, spouse, links, location of the record, any other numbers to help them locate the document
Format: Certified print copy
Number of copies: 1 (or more, but you pay for each copy)
