Bangor police used a dog to subdue a man who allegedly fled from a traffic stop and then resisted arrest Wednesday afternoon.
Adam Gray, 43, of Eddington was charged with refusal to submit to arrest or detention, failure to give a correct name and date of birth, and drug possession; Kevin Gray, 44, of Bangor was charged with refusal to submit to arrest or detention, failure to give a correct name and date of birth, and drug possession; and Julie Edwards, 61, of Bangor was charged with operating a motor vehicle with an expired license and drug possession, according to Katy England, a spokesperson for the Bangor Police Department.
An officer familiar with Edwards spotted her allegedly driving on Main Street about 12:42 p.m., and after confirming with dispatchers that she didn’t have a valid license, pulled her over on March Street, near the Interstate 395 overpass, England said Thursday morning.
The Grays, one of whom allegedly gave police a fake name while the other allegedly refused to identify himself, were passengers in her vehicle.
A dog alerted officers to the possible presence of drugs, and when police told Edwards and the Grays that they would be searched, the Gray brothers fled, according to England.
Kevin Gray was quickly apprehended by two police officers, while Adam Gray allegedly resisted a third officer’s attempt to place him under arrest. Police then used a dog to subdue him.
Gray and the officer were both taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
All three were taken to the Penobscot County Jail, where the Gray brothers remained Thursday morning, according to the jail’s website.
