Former softball pitcher Jen Jones and basketball star Tyler Muzzy headline the seven people and one team being inducted into the Husson University Sports Hall of Fame.
The ceremony will take place on Oct. 2 at the Gracie Theater on the Husson University campus in Bangor.
Joining Jones and Muzzy in the class will be former football standouts Frank Curran and Alex Young, basketball’s Victoria McIntryre, golf’s Lance Libby, and track and field’s Kerianne Downing.
The 2017-18 Husson men’s golf team also will be inducted.
Acton native and former Sanford High standout and Maine high school Gatorade Softball Player of the Year Jones compiled a 60-27 record during her career at Husson along with a 2.13 earned-run average and 652 strikeouts. She made 109 appearances and had 65 complete games, 17 shutouts and four saves.
She holds the career record for wins, appearances, innings pitched (575) and strikeouts.
She was a three-time North Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Year, a four-time All-NAC tourney selection, a two-time All-Region pick and the winner of the Outstanding Player award at the 2021 NCAA Division III Regional Tournament, which was held at Husson for the first time.
She was a two-time NCAA Regional all-tourney selection.
Muzzy was a two-time all-conference and conference all-tourney selection as well as a Maine Men’s Basketball Coaches and Writers Association All-State pick.
The Greenville native tallied 1,289 career points and hauled down 653 rebounds to go with 168 assists and 142 steals in 94 games.
He shot 44.5% from the floor and 64.7% from the free-throw line.
He was a New England Basketball Coaches Association Division III Senior All-Star game choice in 2007.
Curran was an outstanding defensive lineman who was chosen the conference Defensive Lineman of the Year and a Freshman All-American among a bunch of prestigious awards he earned at Husson from 2017-21.
He was a four-time all-conference player and an All-Region pick who concluded his exceptional career with 208 tackles, including 42 for lost yardage and 18 sacks. He had 21 quarterback hurries, forced two fumbles and had a fumble recovery and an interception along with four pass breakups.
The Portland native and former Cheverus star is ninth in school history in tackles, tied for fifth in tackles for loss and tied for fourth in sacks.
Young, a native of South Thomaston, was one of the program’s best offensive lineman.
Young was a two-time all-conference pick and named the league’s top offensive lineman in 2014. He was an All-American and a preseason All-American and appeared in 32 games for the Eagles, including 27 starts.
He led the Eagles to their first of five straight Eastern Collegiate Football Conference championships in 2014.
Libby, a Sidney native and former Messalonskee High of Oakland standout, registered nine tournament wins, 28 top-five finishes and 32 top-10 showings in his 50-tournament career.
He is tied for sixth in school history in tournament wins and is third in top-five finishes and fourth in top-10s. He posted a 77.02 scoring average.
He was a two-time All-New England Intercollegiate Golf Association and two-time Maine Intercollegiate All-State honoree.
He paced Husson to three state of Maine titles, three New England championships and three North Atlantic Conference titles and was part of the first team in program history to participate in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2007.
McIntyre was a two-time all-conference choice and was the conference player of the year in 2016. She was also a D3hoops.com All-Region pick that year.
She concluded her career ranked 18th all-time in points with 1,077 and 11th in rebounds with 632. She also dished out 156 assists, made 154 steals and blocked 43 shots in 106 contests.
The Mars Hill native and former Central Aroostook standout led Husson to a NAC title in 2016, which triggered a string of five straight league titles for the Eagles.
Downing, a native of Dedham, Massachusetts, captured two NAC 100-meter hurdles titles. She also won the high jump and the 2016 New England Division III Outdoor Track and Field championship in that event.
She was a two-time All-NAC choice in the 100-meter hurdles and high jump and was an All-New England choice in the heptathlon.
She is the program record-holder in the high jump (1.54 meters) and heptathlon (3,835 points).
She has earned five event wins, 36 top-five and 69 top-10 finishes in her career with six placements in various events that rank inside the top 10 for Husson indoor track and five inside the top 10 for outdoor track.
The 2017-18 Husson golf team, under the guidance of head coach Mike Dugas, won the NAC, Maine State and New England Intercollegiate Golf Association championships, and won every tournament it competed in during the fall schedule.
The Eagles tied for 19th in the NCAA Division III championships, the highest finish in program history.
Dugas’ two sons, Gavin and Eric, were selected conference Golfer of the Year and Rookie of the Year, respectively. Eric Dugas was a Division III All-American honorable mention. He was also selected to the Division III Ping All-Region team with teammates Mackenzie Clow and Daulton Wickenden.
Its 302.73 four-person scoring average is third all-time in program history.
