Maine State Police are investigating the deaths of two people in Rumford.

On Wednesday, shortly before 9 a.m., Rumford police were called to a home on Franklin Street for a well-being check. Inside, they found a man and a woman dead.

The Rumford department requested help from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit, who have started an investigation, state police said on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased, who have not been publicly identified, will be taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Augusta for autopsies to determine the cause and manner of death.

Police have not released any additional details but said there is no danger to the public.
