A 22-year-old New Hampshire man died Saturday afternoon after losing control of his dirt bike on a trail in Parsonsfield, according to the Maine Warden Service.
Kevin O’Connell of Epping, New Hampshire, was riding with a group of friends on Knox Road at 3 p.m. when he apparently hit a rough section of trail and was thrown from the bike. Dusty conditions had reduced visibility on the trail, wardens said. The dirt bike struck a tree.
O’Connell’s friends did not see the crash and continued to an intersection before realizing he was missing. They returned to find him and performed CPR until paramedics arrived. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash. O’Connell was wearing a helmet.
