Vance defends ICE’s handling of Biddeford shooting

Asked about the fatal ICE shooting of a Biddeford motorist six weeks ago and Democrats’ claims the administration isn’t investigating, Vance disputed that characterization, saying, “Of course, the Trump administration, our Department of Justice, everybody investigates this stuff.”

He said he didn’t want to “prejudge” the case but argued the officer believed the man posed a danger after driving away from the scene, then pivoted to fentanyl deaths, saying Democrats show more concern “about a shooting involving an illegal alien” than about overdose deaths.

The man killed, Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, was a 25-year-old Colombian national with a pending asylum case, a valid work permit and no final removal order, according to his family. The shooting remains under investigation by a federal watchdog and the Maine attorney general’s office.
