A man was found dead Thursday morning near a backyard fire pit in Sanford.
The body was found about 5 a.m. in the backyard of a Twombley Road home, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
The body was taken to the Maine medical examiner’s office for an autopsy and to determine his identity and cause and manner of death, Moss said Tuesday morning.
The death remains under investigation.
