A 2.7-mile hike to the top of Trout Mountain ends at an 80-foot fire tower. The tower was built in 2020 by The Nature Conservancy, replacing a historic fire tower that was closed in the 1970s.
Six flights of stairs lead visitors to a 360-degree view of Katahdin and the surrounding region.
Outdoors contributor Sarah Sindo previously shared her experience climbing the tower, including the nerve-racking ascent to the top.
