Tim Curry, an actor who both delighted and terrified generations, has died.
Law enforcement officials have told TMZ died at age 80 Tuesday night at his home in Los Angeles.
Curry’s big breakout came in 1975 when he starred as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the cult classic “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” He had notable roles in “The Hunt for Red October,” “Home Alone 2” and the children’s TV show “The Wild Thornberries.”
But Curry may be best remembered — in Maine, at least — for his iconic portrayal of the child-eating monster Pennywise the clown in the 1990 TV adaptation of Stephen King’s “IT.”
Curry has struggled with health issues for more than a decade, including a major stroke in 2012 that required brain surgery and left him unable to walk, according to TMZ.
