If you’re heading south on Interstate 95 this morning, there was a serious crash on Route 3 in Augusta, near the roundabouts. Drivers have been asked to avoid Exit 113, and if you happen to need to get to MaineGeneral Medical Center or anything else in the area, look for an alternative route.
Try to enjoy the dry weather today, because starting late tonight and throughout the day Friday, rain is likely across much of the state.
Twelve candidates have qualified to run for the three open spots on the Bangor City Council in the Nov. 3 election.

Fire chief’s exit clears way for rival Maine mill towns to share a leader
Millinocket and East Millinocket may share a name, but the towns have always had clear identities.
Now, after spending years shrinking due to the loss of their paper mills, they’re looking to each other for solutions.
Bangor Daily News reporter Daniel O’Connor writes that Millinocket and East Millinocket will share a fire chief starting in September, the latest sign of growing cooperation between the former industrial neighbors.
East Millinocket’s longtime chief, Kevin McAdam, will take on both towns for at least nine months, with a decision on making the arrangement permanent expected by next June.
Officials say it could be a stepping stone toward merging the departments, and school consolidation also is on the table as student populations drop and the cost of running separate services keeps climbing.
