Thieves stole dangerous drugs from a Farmington veterinary office late last week.

The suspects broke into Falls Road Veterinary Clinic on Farmington Falls Road on Thursday night and stole numerous medications, in both pill and liquid form, according to the Farmington Police Department.

Among the drugs they stole was Euthasol, a powerful drug containing phenobarbital used to euthanize animals.

“The potential danger to any person who may possess, handle, or consume this drug is significant and should be treated as a serious public safety concern,” police warned Monday.

Phenobarbital acts on the central nervous system. Symptoms include blurred vision, confusion, dizziness, weakness and tiredness, or less commonly chest pain, nausea, trouble breathing and coma, according to the Mayo Clinic.

The drug can produce dependency and strong withdrawal symptoms.

Anyone with information about the theft can call the Farmington Police Department at 207-778-6311.
