A Lewiston man allegedly set fire to the home he shared with his girlfriend.
Treven Stoops, 38, has been charged with arson, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Stoops allegedly set fire to the Libby Avenue home about 7:11 p.m. Monday. The day before police conducted an investigation there and issued an arrest warrant for Stoops, the Lewiston Police Department said.
No one was injured in the fire, but several pet birds died.
Stoops was arrested Tuesday afternoon at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn, where he was being held on unrelated charges.
His bail was set at $5,000.
The investigation is ongoing.
